Our Story ✹

Balay Sol (pronounced /bah-LIE/ • /sol/) was born between two countries — the Philippines, where our pieces are made, and Australia, where we call home.

We create island-inspired homewares that feel calm, warm and quietly beautiful — made for everyday living, and made to last.

The heart of Balay Sol is our grandmother, Chol. Her home was where everyone gathered — food on the table, laughter in the air, and the kind of welcome that stayed with you long after you left. That feeling of togetherness is what we carry into everything we make.

But Balay Sol is also about something bigger than our table. The Philippines is a country of extraordinary natural beauty — its forests yield abaca, its coastlines give us capiz shell and abalone, and across its islands, generations of artisans have turned these materials into objects of remarkable craft. We exist to bring that craft to the world, and to bring meaningful work back to the people who create it.

Our name says it simply: Balay means home. Sol means sun — home in the sun.
